More ºìÐÓÊÓƵ This Program

ºìÐÓÊÓƵ’s Computer Science Endorsement Preparation program provides targeted education in computer science education. This program offers career benefits for students looking to specialize in computer science education.

Master's Degree with Computer Science Endorsement

The master’s degree in Educational Technology with the Computer Science Endorsement is earned by pursuing the master’s degree with the Computer Science Concentration and gaining the appropriate experience in the Practicum. Be sure to discuss the program with your advisor and fill out the program of study to include the right courses.

Computer Science Endorsement-Only Program

If you already have both teaching certification and a master’s degree in education or another appropriate field (discuss this with the program coordinator), you can add the Computer Science Endorsement by taking a smaller number of courses (21 credit hours), including a practicum and portfolio. Apply as a non-degree student and contact the program coordinator if you have any questions.

Adding the Endorsement to Your Teaching License

In order to add the Computer Science Endorsement to your Resident Educator or Professional Ohio teaching license, you must complete the Computer Science Endorsement coursework and pass the Ohio Assessment Exam (OAE).

Upon successful completion of the endorsement coursework and OAE exam, students must complete the online Licensure Pre-Application found in the . For instructions on how to navigate the Licensure Pre-Application process, please visit the Vacca Office of Student Services webpage How to Apply for an Educator License. Pay special attention to the section on Add(ing) an Endorsement or Teaching Field to an existing license? You will need to upload a signed Plan of Study during this process unless you have already submitted one to the Office of Graduate Student Services (418 White Hall). Once you have successfully completed and submitted your Licensure Pre-Application, the online system will connect you directly with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce's online licensure system where you will complete the process and make payment.

Funding Opportunities

Currently licensed Ohio teachers can apply for reimbursement of the Computer Science Endorsement coursework. The financial support is available through the 21st Century Computer Science Workplace program funded by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
