At approximately 8 p.m. on April 2, ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Police received a report of a single shot fired near Bowman Hall on the university’s ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Campus. The police immediately advised the university community to shelter in place and provided a description of the suspect.

ºìÐÓÊÓƵ State Announces Normal Campus Operations Have Resumed, Provides Update Following Wednesday Night’s Incident

ºìÐÓÊÓƵ President Lester A. Lefton, ºìÐÓÊÓƵ State Police Chief John Peach and Shay Little, associate vice president and dean of students, addressed the media today, April 3, at 11 a.m. in the large auditorium at the Schwartz Center. They provided an update on the incident that happened at the ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Campus the night of April 2. Quavaugntay L. Tyler, 24, originally from Cleveland, was arrested for Felony 4, carrying a concealed weapon pending further review by the prosecutor’s office. He is a freshman ºìÐÓÊÓƵ State student.

The ºìÐÓÊÓƵ Libraries is marking the 25th anniversary of the Borowitz Crime Collection through a major exhibition and other events held during the 2013-2014 academic year. Established at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ State in 1989 by Albert Borowitz and Helen Osterman Borowitz of Cleveland, the collection includes both primary and secondary sources on crime, as well as works of literature based on true crime incidents.

Student and Professor Find New Antibiotic Alternative

ºìÐÓÊÓƵ undergraduate student Jean Wilson Mutambuze and Jean Engohang-Ndong, Ph.D., assistant professor of biological sciences at ºìÐÓÊÓƵ at Tuscarawas, are conducting a research project that has found a promising new alternative to manage a skin disease called Buruli Ulcer.

In observance of Veterans Day, ºìÐÓÊÓƵ will be closed Nov. 11 and will reopen Nov. 12.

  • The University Library will be open until 10 p.m. with .
  • The Student Recreation and Wellness Center will have adjusted hours â€“ 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

ºìÐÓÊÓƵ State Remembers May 4, 1970, With 56th Commemoration

This year’s May 4 Commemoration, to be held May 1-4, 2026, will include special remembrances of John Cleary, one of the nine wounded students, and Jerry M. Lewis, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Sociology, who served as a faculty marshal during the campus shootings and worked tirelessly to ensure that the legacy of May 4 would endure.
