Following the Mid-American Conference (MAC) championship game on Friday, Nov. 30, in Detroit, the ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ football team is bound for a bowl game. The announcement of which bowl game the Golden Flashes will play in is expected to be made Sunday, Dec. 2, in the evening. The ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ State Golden Flashes football team claimed the program's first MAC East Division title with a perfect 8-0 record and an 11-1 overall mark. ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ State will be playing in its third bowl game in program history. ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ State's first bowl appearance was in 1954, and the last one was in 1972. The 40-year bowl drought is the second longest in the nation.
In addition to a perfect conference record, ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ State head football coach Darrell Hazell was named MAC Coach of the Year and is a semifinalist for National Coach of the Year. Dri Archerwas named MAC Special Teams Player of the Year and broke ºìÐÓÊÓÆµ State's single-season record for touchdowns. Nine Golden Flashes earned All-MAC honors, including three on the first team. Tackle Brian Winters became the second player in program history to get selected to play in the Senior Bowl.
